Abstract:
In this optical repeater of an MDM optical transmission system, a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is prevented from deteriorating due to a loss of a mode demultiplexer. The optical repeater of an MDM optical transmission system is configured to include one or more multimode optical amplifiers, a mode demultiplexer, a mode multiplexer, and a variable optical attenuator, wherein one of the multimode optical amplifiers is disposed on the input side of the mode demultiplexer.
