Abstract:
According to the present invention, a prism has a first intermediate image formation position at which an image of a component in a first direction of a light flux incident on the inside thereof is formed, and a second intermediate image formation position at which an image of a component in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction of the light flux is formed. The first intermediate image formation position and/or the second intermediate image formation position is located between a first surface and a second surface and within a first distance from the second surface, or located between the second surface and a third surface and within a second distance from the second surface. The first distance is a length less than a half of an optical path length from the first surface to the second surface, and the second distance is a length less than a half of an optical path length from the second surface to the third surface.
