Title:
ORGANIC EL ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/021343
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is an organic EL element which withstands processes for mass-producing organic EL display panels, achieves excellent hole-injection efficiency, is driven at a low voltage, and has high luminance efficiency. Specifically, an organic EL element (1) is formed by sequentially laminating an anode (2), a hole injection layer (3), a buffer layer (4), an emission layer (5) and a cathode (6) on one surface of a substrate (10). On the surface of the hole injection layer (3), a bank (12) is formed in such a manner as to surround a structure corresponding to layers including and above the buffer layer (4). The hole injection layer (3) is formed by sputter-depositing a thin film of tungsten oxide. In the sputter-deposition, the film is formed so that tungsten oxide may have an electronic state in which the occupied level is within a range of binding energies that is lower by 1.8 - 3.6 eV than the lowest binding energy in the valence band thereof. Thus, the barrier for hole injection into the above buffer layer is lowered.
