Abstract:
This organic EL element (1) comprises a light-emitting region (5) disposed between a negative electrode (4) and a positive electrode (3), a first positive-electrode-side organic layer (61), and a second positive-electrode-side organic layer (62), wherein: the light-emitting region (5) includes at least a first light-emitting layer (51); the first light-emitting layer (51) contains a first host material, a first additional host material different from the first host material, and a first light-emitting compound; the first positive-electrode-side organic layer is in direct contact with the second positive-electrode-side organic layer; the first positive-electrode-side organic layer (61) contains a first organic material and a second organic material; the content of the first organic material in the first positive-electrode-side organic layer (61) is less than 50 mass%; the second positive-electrode-side organic layer (62) contains a second hole transportation zone material; a first light-emitting layer (50) is a fluorescent light-emitting layer; and the refractive index NM1 of a constituent material contained in the first positive-electrode-side organic layer (61) and the refractive index NM2 of a constituent material contained in the second positive-electrode-side organic layer (62) satisfy the relationship of numerical expression NM.
