Provided is a packaging material for forming a bag for holding a heating composition, said packaging material not requiring release paper and not suffering from the various drawbacks of conventional means of sticking adhesive-type warming materials. Also provided is an adhesive-type warming material formed using the packaging material. The packaging material, which is for forming a bag for holding a heating composition therein, is characterized by comprising (A) a main member which is a member configuring the heating-composition holding part of the bag when forming the bag and which comprises a resin film having no pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on the surfaces thereof and having, on the surface which is to be the outer side of the bag, an area that has undergone a releasant treatment and an area that has undergone no releasant treatment, the untreated area being located at least in the periphery, and (B) an application member which comprises a substrate sheet having a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on one surface. The packaging material is further characterized in that the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer of the application member has been covered with the releasant-treated area of the main member and can be stripped from the releasant-treated area and applied to an adherend.
