Provided are a palladium-based supported hydrogenation catalyst and a preparation method therefor and an application thereof. The catalyst is prepared by the following method: using an organic solution containing a bipyridine derivative with a hydroxyl group to impregnate a support containing Al2O3, optionally drying, then using a mixed solution containing palladium ions as main active components and Mn+ ions (M is selected from one of Ag, Au, Ni, Pb and Cu) as auxiliary active components for impregnation, then optionally drying, and calcinating to obtain the catalyst. The prepared and obtained catalyst has an excellent hydrogenation activity, ethylene selectivity and anti-coking performance; and can be used in the selective hydrogenation process for a C2 fraction.
