Abstract:
This parking assistance device comprises: a candidate line detection unit that detects a candidate line, which is a candidate for a demarcation line in image data obtained by imaging the vicinity of a vehicle; and a demarcation line recognition unit that executes determination processing to determine whether the difference in brightness between regions on both sides of, and sandwiching, the candidate line in the image data is at least a brightness threshold value, the regions being on the outside of the candidate line in a width direction, and if it was determined that the difference in brightness is at least the brightness threshold value, the demarcation line recognition unit does not recognize the candidate line as a section line, and if it was determined that the difference in brightness is less than the brightness threshold value, the demarcation line recognition unit recognizes the candidate line as a section line.
