Abstract:
According to an embodiment, this particle beam acceleration device (12) comprises: guide units (21) for guiding a particle beam (1) on a trajectory; an acceleration unit (24) for accelerating the particle beam (1) circulating on the trajectory (3); a particle beam blocking unit (27) for blocking the particle beam (1) on the trajectory (3); and a control unit (30) for controlling the guide units (21), the acceleration unit (24), and the particle beam blocking unit (27). The guide units (21) have a superconducting electromagnet (32) and a superconducting electromagnet blocking part (28) blocking the superconducting electromagnet (32). The control unit (30) is configured so that if an abnormality occurs in a superconducting electromagnet (32), the control unit (30) starts the particle beam blocking unit (27) and completes the blocking of the particle beam (1) before starting a superconducting electromagnet blocking part (28) and blocking the superconducting electromagnet (32).
