Abstract:
According to an embodiment, a particle beam acceleration apparatus (12) is provided with: an incident part (25) that receives a particle beam (1); a guide unit (21) that guides the particle beam (1) to an orbit (3); an acceleration unit (24) that accelerates the particle beam (1) traveling around the orbit (3); an emission unit (26) that emits the particle beam (1); a particle beam blocking unit (27) that blocks the particle beam (1) on the orbit (3); and a control unit (30) that controls the incident unit (25), the guide unit (21), the acceleration unit (24), the emission unit (26), and the particle beam blocking unit (27). The guide unit (21) has a superconducting electromagnet (32) and a superconducting electromagnet blocking unit (28) that blocks the superconducting electromagnet (32). The control unit (30) is configured to change the sequence of activation of the particle beam blocking unit (27) and the superconducting electromagnet blocking unit (28) on the basis of at least the operation state of the emission unit (26) when an anomaly occurs in the superconducting electromagnet (32).
