Abstract:
A novel phenolic compound; and a recording material containing the compound and having excellent storage stability. The phenolic compound is represented by the formula (I): (I) wherein m is an integer of 0 to 2; R1 and R2 each independently represents C1-6 alkyl, C1-6 alkoxy, etc.; p and q each independently is an integer of 0 to 4; t and u each independently is 0 or 1, provided that not both are 0; and X represents a group represented by any of the formulae (II) to (VII): (II) (IV) (V) (VI) (VII) (wherein R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, and R11 each independently represents hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl, etc.; a is an integer of 1 to 6; b is an integer of 0 to 4; and c is an integer of 0 to 6).
