Abstract:
Provided is a low-cost piston ring which has a low sulfur atom content, does not require a particular exposure device and does not require strict safety measures. A piston ring 1 which is to be used in a reciprocating compressor for compressing a gas and comprises a resin composition which at least has a polyether ether ketone resin or a thermoplastic polyimide resin as a principal component thereof, wherein a carbon material having a sulfur atom content of 200ppm or less is included in said resin composition, and said carbon material is at least one type of carbon selected from the group consisting of carbon fibers, graphite and coke breeze, and is contained in a total amount which equals 5-35 vol% of the resin composition overall.
