Abstract:
A planar illumination device (1) according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a substrate (3A, 3B); a reflector plate (5); and a plurality of optical sheets (7, 8, 9). The substrate (3A, 3B) has a plurality of light sources (4) arranged therein, and is planar or curved. The reflector plate (5) has a reflection surface (5c) that surrounds the light sources (4), and is disposed on the substrate (3A, 3B). The optical sheets (7, 8, 9) are arranged on the emission side of the reflector plate (5). The reflector plate (5) has stairs (5g) having a plurality of flat parts (5d, 5e, 5f) different in height in the thickness direction on one side of a frame of the reflector plate (5). The optical sheets (7, 8, 9) respectively have cutout portions (7b, 8b) formed by cutting out portions overlapping fixed regions (7f, 8f, 9f) at the ends of other optical sheets (7, 8, 9) layered on the emission side. The fixed regions (7f, 8f, 9f) of the optical sheets (7, 8, 9) are fixed to the flat parts (5d, 5e, 5f) of the stairs (5g).
