Abstract:
Provided is a pneumatic tire having an improved rolling resistance without lowering wear resistance. The pneumatic tire comprises a tread (1), a pair of side walls (2), a pair of beads (3), a carcass, belts disposed radially outside of a crown portion of the carcass, the belts being made up of at least one layer of inclined belts made of cords inclined to the equatorial plane of the tire, and a tread rubber (9). The pneumatic tire is characterized in that the ratio of BD/BW satisfies the following relation: (0.062 x tire flatness ratio – 0.01) < BD/BW < (0.062 x tire flatness ratio + 0.004), where BD is a reduction in the distance of the lateral edge of the inclined belt (6b) from the maximum distance of the inclined belt from the wheel rim line and BW the width of the outermost layer of inclined belt (6b) as measured in a cross section taken along the meridian line of the tire as it is mounted on a wheel rim.
