Abstract:
Provided is a pneumatic tire that is capable of achieving both steering stability and high-speed endurance, and comprises a carcass layer formed from organic fiber cords. At least one carcass layer 4 mounted between a pair of bead sections 3 is constituted from carcass cords 4c that are formed from organic fiber cords obtained by twisting together filament bundles of organic fibers. The fineness based on corrected weight of the carcass cords 4c is 4,000–8,000 dtex. The intermediate elongation of the carcass cords 4c in a sidewall section 2, under a load of 1.0 cN/dtex, is 3.3%–4.2%. In a contact region A where a body section 4A and a folded-back section 4B are in contact in the carcass layer 4, the ratio G/R of the interlayer rubber gauge G between the body section 4A and the folded-back section 4B to the cord diameter R of the carcass cords 4c is 0.50–0.60.
