Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a polarizing plate having excellent adhesiveness between a polarizer and an optical film and favorable durability, and an image display device having this polarizing plate. This polarizing plate comprises a polarizer, an adhesion layer, and an optical film exhibiting reverse wavelength dispersibility in this order, the adhesion layer being formed using an adhesive composition containing a polymerizable compound and a polymerization initiator, and the polarizing plate satisfying conditions 1 and 2 shown below. Condition 1: the maximum absorption wavelength of the polymerization initiator falls within the minimum absorption wavelength of the optical film plus or minus 70 nm. Condition 2: the molar extinction coefficient of the polymerization initiator is 22000 mol-1Lcm-1 or more.
