The present application provides a pole piece and a battery. The pole piece comprises a first current collector and a first functional layer arranged on at least one surface of the first current collector, the first functional layer comprises active material particles, and the surface of the first functional layer is provided with a plurality of first areas and with a plurality of second areas distributed alternatingly relative to the first areas; in the first areas, an inorganic salt layer is arranged outside of a portion of the active material particles. The pole piece and battery provided by the present application are used for improving first-time efficiency and solve the problem of serious battery expansion.
