Title:
POLYBENZAZOLE FIBER AND PYRIDOBISIMIDAZOLE FIBER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2008/023719
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] To provide fibers which retain the excellent heat resistance and flame
retardancy inherent in polybenzazole fibers and pyridobisimidazole fibers,
have improved post-processability, and neither necessitate a considerable change
in production process conditions nor require a high-temperature long-term heat
treatment, etc. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The fibers are a polybenzazole fiber
and a pyridobisimidazole fiber and each is characterized in that crystals are
present therein in such a state that a surface layer part (from the surface to 1
µm) of the fiber gives an electron beam diffraction pattern in which when
the area of a diffraction peak attributable to the crystal (200) plane in an equatorial-direction
profile is expressed by S1 and the area of a diffraction peak attributable to other
specific crystal planes is expressed by S2, then the value of S2/S1 is in a specific
range.
