Abstract:
A polycyclic polyphenol resin having a repeating unit derived from at least one type of monomer selected from the group consisting of aromatic hydroxy compounds indicated in formulas (1A) and (1B). The repeating units are linked by a direct bond between the aromatic rings. (In formula (1A), X indicates an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, a single bond, or the absence of a crosslink and Y indicates a C1–60 2n-valent group or a single bond. If X indicates the absence of a crosslink, then Y is a 2n-valent group. In formula (1B), A indicates a benzene ring or a fused ring. In formula (1A) and formula (1B), R 0 each independently indicate a C1–40 alkyl group that can have a substituent, a C6–40 aryl group that can have a substituent, a C2–40 alkenyl group that can have a substituent, a C2–40 alkenyl group, a C1–40 alkoxy group that can have a substituent, a halogen atom, a thiol group, or a hydroxyl group. At least one R0 is a hydroxyl group and m are each independently integers 1–9. N is an integer 1–4 and p are each independently integers 0–3.
