Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a polyester resin having excellent curing properties and, in addition, good processability, retort resistance and dent resistance, and a coating composition using the same. [Solution] A polyester resin that comprises, as copolymerization components, a polyvalent carboxylic acid component and a polyhydric alcohol component and that satisfies the following requirements (i) to (iii). (i) Containing 10 mol% or more of a polyvalent carboxylic acid component having a furan skeleton, in the polyvalent carboxylic acid component constituting the polyester resin. (ii) Containing 10-50 mol% of an alicyclic diol having 6 or more carbon atoms, in the polyhydric alcohol component constituting the polyester resin. (iii) Having a glass transition temperature of lower than 70°C.
