Abstract:
A polytetrafluoroethylene mixed powder for insulation use in a product for transmission of high frequency signals which is prepared by admixing a low molecular weight polytetrafluoroethylene powder and a high molecular weight polytetrafluoroethylene powder, both being obtained by an emulsion polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene, characterized in that the low molecular weight polytetrafluoroethylene powder has a number average molecular weight of 1,000,000 ± 500,000 and exhibits a maximum peak temperature of an endothermic curve appearing on a crystal melting curve by a differential scanning calorimeter at 327 ± 5 °, the high molecular weight polytetrafluoroethylene powder has a number average molecular weight of 4,500,000 ± 1,000,000 and exhibits a maximum peak temperature of an endothermic curve appearing on a crystal melting curve by a differential scanning calorimeter at 340 ± 7 °, and the mixed powder exhibits distinct peak temperatures on a crystal melting curve by a differential scanning calorimeter at 327 ± 5 ° and 340 ± 7 °. The mixed powder can be used for preparing an insulation layer for use in a device for transmission of high frequency signals, which has reduced values of dielectric loss constant and dielectric loss tangent and is improved in the processability of its end portions.
