Abstract:
The present invention provides a poly(vinyl alcohol) resin which, when used for producing a poly(vinyl acetal) resin therefrom, can have a regulated particle diameter and be prevented from forming lumps during dissolution and can have excellent solubility. This poly(vinyl alcohol) resin has a content of methyl acetate of 0.05-3 wt%, a content of vinyl alcohol units of 80-99.5 mol%, an average chain length LA of vinyl acetate units of 1-4.5, and an average chain length LO of the vinyl alcohol units of 1-30.
