Title:
POWER GENERATING APPARATUS FOR VEHICLE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/062254
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a power generating apparatus for a vehicle for extending mileage by self-producing and supplying electricity while a hybrid vehicle and an electric vehicle are in motion, the power generating apparatus which is installed through a space inside a tire and a wheel thereby allowing simple employment on the vehicle without significantly altering the existing structure of a vehicle body, can rotate a generator shaft without interference by an axle shaft by using rack and pinion gears, and which can enhance power generation efficiency by using the load of the vehicle body that is applied to the tire. Recently, due to more attention on environmental pollution from use of fossil fuels, electric-type cars employing an electric motor that runs on a battery, such as electric cars and hybrid vehicles, are on the rise. But hybrid vehicles are not very effective in saving fuel costs, as the hybrid vehicles utilize fossil fuels and energy that is generated when braking, and thereby use electricity which is produced intermittently. Electric vehicles are inconvenient due to requiring a large capacity battery and inability to drive when charging. In addition, high cost, even with the use of battery, and limited battery capacity are obstacles for popularizing common electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles. To resolve such issues, the power generating apparatus for the vehicle, according to the present invention, injects less air than the required amount into tires so as to generate electricity by means of the load of the vehicle, so that when wheels touch the surface of a road the tires are modified to a loaded radius, due to a decrease in the distance between the center of a wheel axle to the ground caused by the weight of the vehicle. When racks are raised vertically and wheels are separated away from the surface of the road as a result, the radius of the tires is recovered by means of air pressure and elasticity, thereby allowing repetition of sequential elevation and recovery of a plurality of racks, which are provided on a stopper aperture on the inner surface of the outer circumference of the tires, and continuous rotation of pinions. Consequently, the pressure of the air inside of the tires for producing electricity from a rotor is adjusted so as to utilize the loaded radius and the tire radius to convert kinetic energy, which is generated from the tire radius and the loaded radius while a vehicle is running, into electricity energy by using the racks and the pinions thereby reducing use of fossil fuels while the vehicle is running. As a result, supply of a high-efficiency, low-carbon, and environmentally friendly vehicles can significantly contribute to development of the automobile industry as well as resolve pollution from carbon emissions, rendering significant industrial applicability of the present invention.
