A pre-chamber (20) of a pre-chamber-combustion four-stroke engine (1) is formed such that between the length (L1) of the internal space of a pre-chamber in a plug axial direction (DP) of a pre-chamber sparkplug (23) and the maximum length (L2) of the internal space of the pre-chamber in a direction perpendicular to the plug axial direction, the greater length is twice the lesser length. A plurality of communication holes (21), which allow communication between the internal space of a main combustion chamber (2) and the internal space of the pre-chamber (20), include a first intake hole (21ia). When viewed in the plug axial direction, a line segment (Lsa) connecting the center axis (C23) of the pre-chamber sparkplug and the center (C3a) of a first intake port (3a) forms an angle θ with the center axis (C21ia) of the first intake hole, and the angle θ satisfies the relationship –17°<θ<17°. In a cross section taken along a plane parallel to the center axis (C11) of a cylinder hole (11) and containing the center axis of the first intake hole, the center axis of the first intake hole passes between the first intake hole and a valve head (14) of an intake valve (13) when the intake valve, which opens and closes the first intake port, is open.
