Title:
PRESSURE DEVICE FOR TREATING ORTHOSTATIC DYSREGULATION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/129667
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a treatment method and treatment device for suppressing symptoms of orthostatic dysregulation. The inventors discovered that blood pressure reduction or tachycardia when a patient with orthostatic dysregulation stands up can be suppressed through use of a band for exerting pressure on the lower limbs or a device for squeezing the lower limbs using air pressure. The inventors also discovered that even in the case of a patient with severe orthostatic dysregulation that is resistant to drugs, not only can loss of consciousness or tachycardia syndrome due to blood pressure reduction be suppressed or prevented, but stable movement from lying to sitting, and then to standing, followed by stable and free walking are possible while wearing the newly developed device of the present invention. Thus, through use of this device, QOL with orthostatic dysregulation is markedly improved and enhanced, and the need for assistance or care, which was necessary in the past, can be significantly reduced.
