Abstract:

A process for preparing a diastereomer of a compound represented by the general formula (I) wherein the asymmetric carbon atom of R?1¿ or R?2¿ takes R- or S-configuration, or a salt thereof, characterized by resolving a mixture of diastereomers of the compound or salts of them: (I) wherein R?1¿ and R?2¿ are each independently optionally substituted hydrocarbyl or an optionally substituted heterocyclic group, with the proviso that only one of R?1¿ and R?2¿ contains one asymmetric carbon atom; and R?a¿ is an optically active hydrocarbon group which may be substituted or an optically active heterocyclic group which may be substituted.
