Abstract:

A process for producing a glycidyl ether and an optically active substance thereof with high optical purity in high yield, comprising reacting an alcohol with epihalohydrin in the presence of a base to thereby produce a glycidyl ether, the reaction performed in a two-layer system of non-water-soluble organic solvent/aqueous solution.
