Abstract:
Provided is a product-sum calculation device which, when applied to a neural network, is able to suppress a reduction in performance of the neural network when an element constituting the product-sum calculation device malfunctions. The product-sum calculation device (1) comprises a product calculation unit (10) and a sum calculation unit (11). The product calculation unit (10) comprises a plurality of product calculation elements (10AA – 10AC) and a substitute element (10AX) that is used as a substitute for a malfunctioning product calculation element when any of the product calculation elements (10AA – 10AC) malfunctions. The plurality of product calculation elements (10AA – 10AC) and the substitute element (10AX) are variable resistance elements. The sum calculation unit (11) is equipped with an output detector (11A), and the output detector (11) detects a total value of the output from the plurality of product calculation elements (10AA – 10AC) when the substitute element (10AX) is not being used.
