Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to optically couple, with high efficiency, a waveguide and an optical element. This production method for an optical device (200) is characterized by including: a step in which a waveguide (202) is formed upon a substrate (101); a step in which the thickness of an upper cladding layer (205) of the formed waveguide (202) is specified; a step in which a mounting surface for an optical element (106) is formed on the substrate (101); and a step in which the optical element (106) is mounted to the mounting surface. The production method is further characterized in that, in the step in which the mounting surface is formed, the mounting surface is formed to a height corresponding to the specified thickness of the upper cladding layer (205).
