Abstract:
Provided is a production method for a polyarylene sulfide. The production method makes it possible to produce a high-viscosity polyarylene sulfide at high yields. This production method for a polyarylene sulfide includes: a preparation step for preparing a mixture that includes an organic amide solvent, a sulfur source, a dihalogenated aromatic compound, and an alkali metal hydroxide; a first-stage polymerization step for heating the mixture, initiating a polymerization reaction, and generating a prepolymer until the pH of the reaction system is 10-11; and a second-stage polymerization step for continuing the polymerization reaction.
