Abstract:
This projection display device (100) is a projection display device for projecting image light on the basis of an image signal, and comprises a lamp (13), a display element (15) which modulates light emitted from the lamp according to the amplitude of the image signal and emits the modulated light as the image light, a light quantity control unit (101) which, in response to a power change operation for changing lamp power that is inputted from the outside to drive the lamp, changes the lamp power, when the changed lamp power is lower than the rated power of the lamp and is supplied to the lamp for a given period of time or longer, increases the lamp power to the rated power and decreases the increased lamp power to the original power after a lapse of a predetermined period of time, specifies the amplitude value of the image signal at which the light quantity of the image light is constant before and after the change of the lamp power, and generates a control signal for changing the amplitude of the image signal to the specified amplitude value, and an image signal control unit (102) which controls the amplitude of the image signal according to the control signal generated by the light quantity control unit and supplies the image signal the amplitude of which is controlled to the display element.
