The present application provides a quaternary precursor, and a preparation method therefor and a use thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) mixing a nickel source, a cobalt source, a manganese source, and an iron source with a solvent to obtain a mixed salt solution; (2) mixing the mixed salt solution obtained in step (1) with an oxalic acid solution, and adjusting the pH using ammonia solution for reaction to obtain a half-step precursor solution; and (3) mixing a vanadium source with the half-step precursor solution obtained in step (2), and leaving the solution standing to obtain a quaternary precursor. According to the present application, partial Co is replaced with partial Fe to synthesize the quaternary precursor, so that a relatively high capacity of the precursor can be ensured while reducing raw material costs, the stability of the material can be improved by doping and coating with a vanadium element, and the diffusion resistance of lithium ions is reduced, thereby suppressing the irreversible phase transition of the material at a high voltage and improving the cyclic stability performance and rate performance of the material.
