Abstract:
The present application relates to the technical field of communications, discloses a radio frequency signal amplification apparatus and method, and can reduce the power consumption overhead of radio frequency signal amplification and support larger bandwidth radio frequency signal amplification. The radio frequency signal amplification apparatus comprises an electro-optical conversion unit, an optical amplification unit, and a photoelectric conversion unit, and the optical amplification unit is separately connected to the electro-optical conversion unit and the photoelectric conversion unit. The electro-optical conversion unit is configured to convert a first radio frequency signal into a first optical signal; the optical amplification unit is configured to amplify the first optical signal by X times according to the required power of a second optical signal to obtain the second optical signal, the required power of the second optical signal is greater than or equal to a first power threshold, and X is greater than or equal to 1; and the photoelectric conversion unit is configured to convert the second optical signal into a second radio frequency signal. By using the radio frequency signal amplification apparatus, the second radio frequency signal having the power not smaller than that of the first radio frequency signal can be obtained.
