Abstract:
Provided are a rare earth halide scintillation material and an application thereof. The chemical formula of the rare earth halide scintillation material is REaCebX3, wherein RE is rare earth element La, Gd, Lu or Y, X is one or two of halogens Cl, Br and I, 0≤a≤1.0, 0.01≤b≤1.1, and 1.0001 ≤ a+b ≤ 1.2. With a +2 valent rare earth halide having the same components serving as a dopant instead of the heterogeneous alkaline earth metal halide in the existing technology, the halogen ions in the rare earth halide scintillation material are relatively short, and the apparent valence state of the rare earth ions is between +2 and +3, so that the material belongs to a non-stoichiometric compound, but still retains the crystal structure of the original stoichiometric compound and has better energy resolution and energy response linearity than the stoichiometric compound.
