Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] To provide a raw material powder for warm compaction which is excellent in fluidity at a high temperature and exhibits high lubricity and compressibility in pressure forming, and also exhibits high cost efficiency, and a method of warm compaction comprising using the material powder. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A method of warm compaction which comprises incorporating only a hydroxy-fatty acid salt having an average particle diameter of 5 to 100 μm in an amount of 0.3 to 2 mass %, preferably 0.5 to 2 mass %, to a raw material powder in powder metallurgy and subjecting the resultant mixture to a warm compaction, or comprises adhering a hydroxy-fatty acid salt having an average particle diameter of 50 μm or less to a mold, in advance, and then subjecting the material to warm compaction using the mold. As the hydroxy-fatty acid salt, lithium 12-hydroxystearate is suitably used.
