Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for recording or reproducing information signals by scanning a signal-recording surface of a rotating disk with an optical beam from an optical pickup. The apparatus comprises a drive mechanism for rotating a disk; a mechanism for moving the drive mechanism in an axial direction of the disk on it; an optical pickup for focusing a beam of light onto a recording surface of the disk by means of an object lens; a detector for emitting a beam of light to the disk on the drive mechanism and detecting the inclination of the disk based on a return beam from the disk; and an adjustment mechanism for rotating the optical pickup on a center line perpendicular to a line between the optical axis of the object lens and the center of the disk in accordance with the output from the detector. A skew adjustment is carried out in accordance with the results obtained through the detector that detects the return beam from the disk.
