Abstract:
A reference picture selection method selects a reference picture for a bottom
field of an encoding object in the interlace vide encoding. A motion scale of the
bottom field of the encoding object is predicted by using a particular field preceding
the bottom field of the encoding object in the encoding order. According to the
predicted motion scale, a reference picture candidate appropriate for encoding
the bottom field is set and a reference picture of the bottom field of the encoding
object is selected from the set reference picture candidates.
