Title:
RESIN-COATED METAL PIGMENT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2018/100805
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In a conventional process for treating an aluminium pigment with an acidic monomer, the outermost surface of the pigment is corroded and resultantly smoothness becomes poor or formation of a polymer coating film having an even thickness becomes impossible, hence glossiness and brightness of the pigment are deteriorated due to scattering of incident light. Furthermore, chemical resistance becomes deteriorated due to the presence of portions (pinholes) not covered by a polymer. The inventor of the present invention has found that a resin-coated metal pigment, which is coated with a polymer comprising an aldehyde group-containing monomer, can have an excellent surface smoothness and resultantly have a uniform resin coating, and thereby shows bright and shiny appearance. Thus, the resin-coated metal pigment according to the present invention has been completed.
