Abstract:
In order to detect a road surface condition, this road surface condition estimation device extracts the detection signal of the part of a vibration detection power-generating unit (11) in a contact interval that detects vibrations in a direction tangential to the tire, for example a vibration power generating element (11a). The determination as to whether the tyre is within the contact interval at this point in time is performed on the basis of whether centrifugal force that acts upon the vibration detection power-generating unit (11) is being generated, and if centrifugal force is not being generated the tyre is determined to be within the contact interval. By adopting this configuration, even if there is a change in the pulse level of the output voltage of the vibration detection generating unit (11) according to the traveling speed of the vehicle, the contact interval can be determined with a high degree of accuracy. Therefore, it becomes possible to detect the road surface condition with a high degree of accuracy, on the basis of the contact interval determined with a high degree of accuracy.
