Abstract:
The objective of the invention is to limit the cost of robot arm mechanisms provided with linear-motion telescopic joints.
A robot arm mechanism according to a mode of embodiment of the present invention is provided with a plurality of first coupled pieces (23) coupled together in such a way as to be capable of bending, and a plurality of second coupled pieces (24) which are coupled together on a bottom surface side thereof in such a way as to be capable of bending. When the first coupled pieces (23) are joined to the top surface side of the second coupled pieces (24), the top surface side being the opposite side to the bottom surface side, bending of the first and second coupled pieces (23, 24) is restricted, to form a rigid columnar body. The first and second coupled pieces (23, 24) return to a bent state by being separated from one another. A supporting portion (30) joins the first and second coupled pieces (23, 24) to one another to form the columnar body, and supports the columnar body with freedom to travel forward and backward. An accommodating portion (11a) accommodates the first and second coupled pieces (23, 24) which have been returned to the bent state to the rear of the supporting portion (30) and are respectively bent on the bottom surface sides thereof. The total length of the coupled plurality of second coupled pieces (24) is less than the total length of the coupled plurality of first coupled pieces (23).
