Abstract:
A robot and a control method thereof are provided. The robot of the present disclosure comprises: a sensor; a driving unit; a communication interface; a memory storing a database including information regarding each floor of a space where the robot is located; and one or more processors. The one or more processors: when a user input to move the robot to a second floor is received, control the driving unit to allow the robot to get in an elevator; when communication with the elevator cannot be made while the robot is riding the elevator in response to the user input, identify whether the elevator has arrived at the second floor, on the basis of the database and information obtained through the sensor while the robot is riding the elevator; and when it is identified that the elevator has arrived at the second floor, control the driving unit to allow the robot to get off the elevator. In addition, when the elevator in which the robot is riding stops, the processors generate a database including information regarding each floor of the space on the basis of information regarding each floor, which is obtained through the sensor, and store the database in the memory.
