Abstract:
A rotary electric machine according to the present invention is provided with: a cylindrical stator that accommodates a rotor in the interior thereof and that has coils wound on an inner circumferential side thereof; and a housing that is fitted to an outer circumferential surface of the stator, that covers the stator from outside, and that has a groove formed in an inner circumferential surface facing the outer circumferential surface of the stator. The rotary electric machine has an oil passage that is formed by the outer circumferential surface of the stator and the groove of the housing and that allows cooling oil to flow therein along an outer circumference of the stator. The groove includes: a first groove that is arranged at an intermediate section of the stator and that extends in a circumferential direction of the stator; and a plurality of second grooves that are split off from the first groove and extend in a direction intersecting the first groove and that guide the cooling oil from the first groove to an axial end section of the stator. The second grooves are arranged in a manner spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction of the stator.
