Provided is a rubber composition for tire treads which brings about lower rolling resistance and better wet performance than on the conventional levels. This rubber composition for tire treads is characterized by comprising 100 parts by weight of a diene rubber comprising at least 30 wt.% modified conjugated-diene polymer rubber, 1-25 parts by weight of a tackifier resin, and 25-80 parts by weight of a filler comprising at least 50 wt.% silica. The composition is further characterized in that the modified conjugated-diene polymer rubber has modifying end groups including a functional group that interacts with silica, the modified conjugated-diene polymer rubber has an aromatic-vinyl unit content of 38-48 wt.%, a vinyl unit content of 20-35%, a weight-average molecular weight of 600,000-1,000,000, and a glass transition temperature of -22 to -32ºC, and the tackifier resin has a glass transition temperature which is higher by 50-110ºC than the glass transition temperature of the modified conjugated-diene polymer rubber.
