Abstract:
In order to provide a safety device for a multi-car elevator, which is capable of preventing landing of a car on a floor from being erroneously detected while preventing transportation efficiency from being decreased, a safety device for a multi-car elevator is configured to be provided with: a landing door detection unit (4) which detects the open/closed states of landing doors (3) provided at respective landings (2) of an elevator in which a plurality of cars (5a, 5b) are vertically arranged in line; a car detection unit which detects that the cars (5a, 5b) are disposed at positions at which the doors thereof are openable with respect to the respective landings (2); a control unit (10) which, even if, when the car detection unit detects a car, the landing door (3) at the landing corresponding to a position at which the car is detected is opened, permits the traveling of a car different from said car; and a failure detection unit which detects the failure of the car detection unit.
