Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a sail unit support device with which a sail unit can be easily retrofitted to a ship body, which was not originally intended for sailing, without the need for any construction work. [Solution] A sail unit 6 is outfitted by a sail unit support device 4 to a ship body 18 of a motor boat 2, which is a ship body not originally intended for sailing. The sail unit support device 4 comprises: a horizontal member 28 that has a configuration which supports a mast 8, and that is disposed in a state of being suspended across the ship body 18 along the width direction thereof; and a pair of fixation means 30A, 30B that are disposed on both edges in the width direction of the ship body 18, and that detachably fix both ends of the horizontal member 28 to the ship body 18. The mast 8 is inserted into a thorough hole 28c formed in the center of the horizontal member 28, and a lower end of the mast 8 is accommodated in a bearing part 32 that is heavy and disposed below the through hole.
