The regions of a rear frame (26) opposed to the opposite ends of a seat (9) located widthwise of a vehicle are provided with load receiving locking pieces (35) projecting upward. The regions of the opposite ends of a bottom plate (51) of the seat (9) located widthwise of the vehicle and opposed to the locking pieces (35) are formed with support plates (61) supported by the locking pieces (35). Each support plate (61) is positioned above the level of the other regions of the bottom seat (51). Installed between these support plates (61) are inner cushion members (53, 54) harder than a cushion member (52) on the seat surface. The bottom plate (51) of the seat (9), which is supported at its opposite ends by the projections (35), has no possibility of being displaced in the direction of height. And in the case where the weight of a vehicle occupant is applied to the seat (9) as a shock load, a region between the opposite ends elastically deforms to curve downward as seen longitudinally of the vehicle, and the amount of downward deformation of the bottom plate (51) can be decreased. When the person on board the vehicle sits down, the person sits on the inner cushion members (53, 54) through the cushion member (52) on the seat surface, so that the shock that cannot be mitigated by the cushion member (52) on the seat surface is mitigated by the inner cushion members (53, 54).
