One of the purposes of the present invention is to provide a secondary battery in which a positive electrode and a negative electrode are disposed so as to face each other via an insulation layer, wherein short-circuiting caused by deposition of metal within the insulation layer is inhibited. This secondary battery is provided with: a battery element comprising at least one positive electrode 11 and at least one negative electrode 12; and an outer package body which seals the battery element together with an electrolyte. The positive electrode 11 and/or the negative electrode 12 has a collector, an active material layer formed at least on one surface of the collector, and an insulation layer 112 formed on the surface of the active material layer.
