The embodiments of the present application provide a secure transmission method and apparatus, the method comprising: a first device encrypting, according to a transmission layer security protocol, a packet header of a packet to be sent to obtain an encrypted packet header, wherein the packet to be sent comprises first data, and the first data is encrypted through an application layer security protocol and not encrypted through the transmission layer security protocol; the first device sending a first encrypted packet to a second device, wherein the first encrypted packet comprises the encrypted packet header and the first data. According to the application, if the packet to be sent comprises the first data encrypted through the application layer security protocol, the first device, when encrypting, according to the transmission layer security protocol, the packet to be sent, encrypts the packet header of the packet to be sent and does not encrypt the first data. Correspondingly, after receiving the encrypted packet, the second device does not need to decrypt the first data according to the transmission layer security protocol. Therefore, the processing burdens of the first device and the second device can be reduced, improving packet transmission efficiency.
