Abstract:
A space (S) is defined for accommodating an optical sensor between a sensing gear (11) being a drive transmission gear and a frame (2) supporting the same. A comblike object part (11c) to be sensed is integrally formed on the inner wall of the sensing gear (11). An optical sensor (15) is so disposed that the object part (11c) passes between a light-emitting part (15a) and a light-receiving part (15b) of the optical sensor (15). The optical sensor (15) is protected from disturbances such as disturbance light and paper powder by means of the sensing gear (11) and the frame (2), thereby providing a highly reliable small-sized sensing mechanism.
