Abstract:
The present invention provides a secondary battery capable of preventing, in advance, ignition, explosion, and the like in a critical situation such as during overcharging, and a method for preventing the same. A separator including a low-melting point material is applied such that a PTC for blocking a current by increasing electrode resistance at a certain temperature or higher by inducing internal short-circuit during abnormal heating can be operated in a stable SOC. Therefore, thermal runaway of a battery can be prevented in advance.
