Abstract:
A transmission method for transmitting signals in one sequence, wherein a total number of bits of luminance signals in HDTV signals to be transmitted in one frame period of HDTV signals are divided into blocks each corresponding to a total number K of scanning lines per frame of one channel of SDTV signals to prepare two sequences of K transmission blocks per frame including luminance signals and color signals, and signals, which consist of at least specified control signal words and samples N times as many as words in luminance signals in a specified period within one horizontal scanning period of the above SDTV signals and which contain luminance signals or color signals in the above SDTV signals, and words equivalent to a specified level are inserted into transmission blocks corresponding to effective scanning lines out of the K transmission blocks to serialize the above two sequences of signals; and a transmission device for implementing this transmission method. A reception method for automatically detecting the source formats of video signals transmitted via the above interfaces using digital synchronizing signals and line numbers; and a reception device therefor.
